Our dear friend and long-time CNEHA board member David Starbuck passed away on Sunday, December 27. David was a prolific scholar, who published extensively on industrial archaeology, military sites archaeology, and utopian societies–especially the Shakers. He also played a key role editing journals and newsletters, including the CNEHA Newsletter.
David also loved hosting conferences. Indeed, his conference tours of sites on the Great Warpath were legendary. At the same time, David was an inspirational teacher, sharing his passion for the past with generations of students. He had been ill for some time, but continued doing fieldwork into the fall. He will be deeply missed.
